After the first of September, the W Dale Clark main library hours (where the genealogy collection is) will be: Mon & Tues noon to 8 PM, Wed through Friday 10 AM to 6 PM.
No weekend hours at all for the immediate future.

The obiturary extracts listed are from the American Citizen newspaper, a semi-monthly newspaper published from July 4, 1938 to October 14, 1985 in Omaha Nebraska by a member of the Sons of Italy. This was an Italian language newspaper. This paper told the Italian people what was happening back in Italy and in America. This was one way of communcating with each other.

South Omaha Sun was a weekly newspaper from December 27, 1951 to August 31, 1983.
This paper had Birth, Marriage, Obituary Announcements with Pictures of Brides. It even has people who retired from packing houses and other places of busniess.

Omaha World Herald Newspaper

Obituaries can provide not only the name of the person and the date and place of death, but also information about relatives, military service, employment, personal interests and achievements, religion, places in which the individual lived, and place of burial. Some obituaries include photographs and contact information by the funeral home. Obituaries have long been used to help with genealogy research. Omaha Daily Newspapers.

These are some of the newspapers where the obituaries will be take from.

Omaha has three daily newspapers, the Bee, World-Herald and Daily News, of which. I will class in the order of their seniority.

Omaha Bee – Found by the late Edward Rosewater in 1871, having a morning and evening edition; in addition it issues an eight-page weekly, used mostly for legal advertising. The Omaha Bee has always, been recognized as the leading republican paper west of the Missouri.

Omaha World-Herald – Found by the Gilmert M. Hitchcock now the senior United State senator in 1885. In 1889 it was merged with the Omaha World, found by Dr. Geo. L. Miller in 1866. It has a morning and evening edition. The paper in polities is simon-pure democratic.

Omaha Daily News – The Omaha Daily News was established in 1899. It is one of many newspaper owned and operated by a syndicate – the Scripps-McRae Co – and known as the Daily News Publishing Co.
